Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our privacy-first QR code tracking stickers and item recovery service.

General Service

What is TrackSticker?
TrackSticker is a privacy-first item recovery service. We provide unique QR codes that you place on your valuables. If lost and found, the Finder scans the code, and we notify you of the item's location without exposing personal info.
Can I use TrackSticker as a privacy-focused asset tracking sticker for laptops, tools, or travel gear?
Absolutely. TrackSticker functions as durable, privacy-focused asset tracking stickers for high-value items like laptops, DSLR cameras, power tools, passport covers, and backpacks. It acts as a QR code luggage tag without phone numbers, names or other personal information being exposed, ensuring you can track and recover travel gear or work electronics without exposing your identity in public transit, airports, or coffee shops.
What info is needed to sign up and start using my stickers?
Only a username and password. We keep onboarding as minimal and private as possible. You may want to provide an email address for 2FA, password resets, or other validations, but it isn’t required.
How is it different from AirTag or Tile?
The main difference is privacy and technology. AirTags use continuous tracking and batteries. TrackSticker uses zero continuous tracking. It is a passive notification system relying on a one-time scan. No batteries, globally compatible.
Is a subscription required?
Nope. Even better, the first 2 QR codes are free! For more codes or extended features, optional SMS and email packages are available. Physical QR sticker packs are a one-time purchase.

Privacy and Data

How does TrackSticker protect my privacy?
TrackSticker is a secure lost and found sticker designed to keep your personal contact details completely hidden. When someone scans your sticker, they are directed to an anonymous messaging portal where they can notify you about your item. Your phone number, email, and address are never displayed on the label or revealed to the finder, making it a true privacy QR code sticker for lost and found items.
Why is an anonymous QR code tracking tag safer than standard lost and found labels?
Traditional handwritten labels or luggage tags broadcast your full name, phone number, and sometimes home address to anyone passing by—exposing you to unwanted contact, doxxing, or burglary while away from home. An anonymous QR code tracking tag eliminates this risk by routing all communication through encrypted, masked messaging. You retain total control over your personal data while still offering a quick, hassle-free way for honest finders to reach you.
Does TrackSticker track my items continuously?
Absolutely not. Location Data is generated only once when a Finder scans the code and grants permission.
What does the Finder see about me?
Nothing. They never see your name, email, or phone number.
What do I see about the Finder?
Nothing by default. You only see the location coordinates and timestamp of the scan, plus any anonymous message they might opt to leave.
What kind of Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is offered?
TrackSticker supports multiple strong 2FA / MFA authentication options to protect your account:
  • Authenticator Apps (TOTP): Google Authenticator, 1Password, Authy, or any standard TOTP app.
  • Passkeys & Security Keys (WebAuthn / FIDO2): Biometric logins (Touch ID, Face ID, Windows Hello) or physical hardware security keys (such as YubiKey).
  • Email Verification Codes: One-time security codes delivered to your verified email address.
  • SMS Verification Codes: One-time security codes sent directly to your phone via text message.

You can easily enable and manage one or multiple 2FA methods under your Account Profile settings.

Technical & Care

How should I apply my TrackStickers for maximum durability?
For the best bond, clean the surface of your laptop, water bottle, or gear with an alcohol wipe and let it dry completely. Apply the sticker firmly, smoothing out any air bubbles from the center outward. Our stickers are water-resistant and scratch-proof, designed to stay securely attached to daily items and travel equipment.
What happens when a Finder scans a code?
  1. The QR code links to our anonymous Finder Page.
  2. The Finder is asked to share location (optional).
  3. If granted, GPS coordinates are captured once.
  4. Our system notifies you immediately.
  5. The Finder sees a "Thank You" page.
Can I rename my items?
Yes, you can rename items associated with each QR code in your Dashboard at any time.

Pricing & Credits

How long are my QR codes good for?
All QR codes are good for the lifetime of the account.
What if I don't want to receive all notifications for a QR code anymore?
Notifications can be enabled or disabled by type and QR code at a granular level. (e.g. all 3 notification types could be enabled for high value items, while lesser items might only need Dashboard notifications)
If I purchase the largest notification credits package, do I need to wait to purchase a smaller package?
Accounts can purchase refill packages at anytime. You will retain all your QR codes and all notification credits will remain active with their new stacked expiration date.
What if I didn't buy enough QR codes or notification credits when I started?
Additional QR Codes can be purchased. Better yet, accounts can refill at anytime. The start and end dates for existing credits will be added to additional time purchased, and the base number of available QR codes will be increased to match the new plan!
My remaining email and SMS expiration dates were extended when I purchased more notifications. Did I find a loophole?
You can call it a "loophole" or an "infinite glitch". We call it "treating loyal customers right".
What happens if I purchase the package with the most QR codes and forget to purchase more notification credits once my initial credits expire?
Don't worry, all of your QR codes will continue to update the dashboard. All issued QR Codes are considered one-time purchases.
What is the "hidden" cost of the free account? What's the catch?
Don't worry, since we don't require ANY Personally Identifiable Information (PII), you are NOT the product. Admittedly, running any service does cost money and it doesn't make financial sense to maintain a completely free service forever (which is why the SMS and email notification services are not free). If there is a catch, it's that dormant accounts without active notification credits are considered abandoned after 3 years of inactivity, and will be closed to keep the service running for everyone else.
